AI-generated audio is a starting point, not a finished product. The difference between a raw generation and a polished track often comes down to post-processing: EQ to shape the tone, compression to control dynamics, reverb to add space, and creative effects to give the sound character.
Foundry includes 32 studio-grade DSP effects built directly into the application. No export-and-reimport cycle. No third-party plugins. Effects apply to any track on the timeline, stack and chain freely, and undo without bouncing.
7 effect groups, 200+ presets
The effects are organized into functional groups that cover the full range of audio post-processing:
Filters and EQ
Shape the frequency content of any track. A 24-band graphic EQ gives you surgical control across the spectrum. Parametric EQ lets you target specific problem frequencies or boost sweet spots. Sub bass boost adds weight to low-end-heavy genres.
Modulation and Dynamics
Control the dynamic range with compressors and noise gates. The Drum Punch preset tightens percussive tracks. Bus Glue provides mix-bus-style cohesion. These tools handle the kind of gain staging and dynamic control that professional mixes rely on.
Time and Space
Reverb presets range from tight rooms to full cathedrals. Delays add rhythmic space and depth. These effects place your audio in a physical environment, turning a flat generation into something that sounds like it was recorded in a real space.
Color and Width
Stereo widening expands the sound field. Chorus and ensemble effects add richness and movement. The Wide Ensemble preset is particularly effective on pad sounds and vocal harmonies.
Retro and Texture
Vinyl crackle, tape warmth, and tube grit add analog character to digital audio. These effects are about personality: they make a track sound like it has a history, like it came through real hardware with its own imperfections.
Pitch and Voice
Auto-tune for pitch correction and creative vocal tuning. Voice transformation effects let you reshape vocal character dramatically. Presets range from subtle pitch tightening to completely altered vocal identities.
Creative and Glitch
Granular stretch deconstructs audio into tiny grains and reassembles it with time-stretching and pitch manipulation. Multi-glitch creates rhythmic digital artifacts. The Blend Area effect spectrally fuses two tracks at their overlap boundary, creating transitions that are impossible with simple crossfading.
Non-destructive and stackable
Every effect applies non-destructively to a timeline track. The original audio is never modified. You can stack multiple effects on the same track, reorder them, or remove them without consequence.
No bouncing is required. Unlike traditional DAW workflows where you need to render an effect chain before continuing, Foundry keeps effects live. You hear the result in real time and can adjust at any point.
Quick Effect: describe what you want to hear
On top of the 32 parametric effects, Foundry offers Quick Effect. Select a segment, type a short description ("warm hall reverb" or "lo-fi warmth, tape saturation"), and the AI generates a processed version as a new layer track on your timeline.
This is useful when you know how you want something to sound but do not want to chain individual effects manually. Describe the end result and let the AI figure out the processing chain.
Tiered access
Effects are available across all license tiers:
- Free: 7+ effects from the Filters/EQ and Modulation/Dynamics groups
- Creator: 12+ additional effects covering Time/Space, Color/Width, and Retro/Texture
- Pro: All 32 effects, including Pitch/Voice and Creative/Glitch
Even the free tier includes the fundamental mixing tools: EQ, compression, and dynamics processing. Paid tiers add spatial effects, tonal coloring, and the more creative transformations.
Why built-in effects matter
AI music tools that stop at generation force you into an export-process-import loop every time you want to apply even basic EQ or reverb. That friction adds up. Every round-trip breaks focus and slows the creative cycle.
Having the full effect chain inside the same application where you generate, Patch, and arrange means the production workflow stays unbroken. Generate a track, separate the stems, apply compression to the drums, reverb to the vocals, vinyl crackle to the keys, and export the final mix. One application, one continuous workflow.
